Creepers are flat based, platform, lace up shoes that have been popular since the Second World War. They have recently been pushed back into the spotlight as stars such as Rihanna Fearne Cotton, Marina from Marina and the Diamonds and Rita Ora have been spotted wearing them out and about. Creeper shoes look great when teamed with cut-off Levi shorts and funky patterned tights or leggings or simply with a pair of black skinny jeans and a patterned, vintage tee.

Creepers found their beginnings after the Second World War. Soldiers based in the deserts of North Africa wore these hard wearing shoes to help them tackle the harsh climate. After the War, with no other footwear to their name, the ex-soldiers would prowl the nightspots of London in the same shoes, ensuring their desert boots were renamed “Brothel Creepers”.

In the late 1950′s Creepers were adopted by the Teddy Boys, to be worn along with their white socks and drainpipe trousers, and following on from this were again adopted by followers of the Indie, Ska and Punk pop culture. In the 1980′s, Creepers were the main fashion accessory for the band Bananarama, Boy George and their many loyal fans!

Creepers started to show their face on the catwalks in 2011, shortly before the ultra fashion concsience celebs started to sport them. Now they can be found all over the high street, and of course, can be found here at Boutique 73, at a much more reasonable price.

Our super cute skater dresses are our favourite at the moment. These dress come in bright jewel colours such as deep purple, royal blue and hot pink. They keep the standard skater style skirt with the tighter top cinched in at the waist with a knee length flowing skirt underneath. However, instead of a plain panel front there is a deep v cut down in the middle of your cleavage. The v shape shows off yours cleavage to the max, whilst the mesh panel insert keeps you supported and ensures there are no surprises waiting to show their face (or faces) when you are grooving on the dance floor.

If you are not as brave to show off as much cleavage we also have a black and also a white skater dress with a mesh panel just across the top of the dress, rather then cut right down the front. Studded shoes are a good example of a fashion style that was once only worn by the odd Gothic individual. Every women should have a pair of platforms to go with every outfit in their wardrobe. I would definitely recommend a black, brown and maybe a tan or beige pair. A black pair will act like your little black dress. A much loved pair of shoes that will literally go with every outfit that you out on.
